Technical Designer - Console and Mobile Games

** This is a contract position **

Become a vital part of our collaborative team as a Technical Designer, where your creative expertise and technical skills will play a crucial role in shaping our immersive gaming experiences. As a key member of the development team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing gameplay and game editing systems, utilizing your skills in Lua and Unreal Blueprint.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement diverse gameplay and game editing systems using Lua and Unreal Blueprint technologies.

  • Collaborate with cinematic directors, artists, writers, designers, engineers, and other creatives to define and implement game play requirements.

  • Spearhead the implementation of gameplay systems and/or modes from concept to ship quality.

  • Conduct general content integration and collaborate with fellow developers to optimize integration processes.

  • Rigorously test, debug, fix bugs, and maintain various gameplay and game editing systems.

  • Incorporate new technologies into products and development pipelines as directed.

  • Estimate and schedule work efforts for personal and co-dependent tasks.

  • Actively contribute ideas, provide constructive feedback, and iterate with the team to enhance the overall gaming experience.

Requirements:

  • Participation in at least one shipped console (Xbox, Playstation, Switch) or mobile game.

  • 3+ years of industry experience as a tech designer or gameplay programmer.

  • Direct experience with scripting languages (e.g., Lua, Python, Javascript).

  • Passion for crafting gameplay systems, mechanics, and game modes.

  • Strong expertise in comprehending the game design process, specifically with game mechanics.

  • Experience with content-driven game engines (Unreal, Godot, Unity, Frostbite).

  • Proven ability to work independently and strong communication skills.

Nice to Have:

  • Direct experience in some or all of C++, Javascript, React.

  • Proficiency in project management tools such as Jira, Plastic, Github, and Slack.

  • Working knowledge of MS Code, Developer Studio, Xcode, Rider or ZeroBrane.

  • Working knowledge of command lines tools such as ffmpeg, sox, curl and, telnet.

  • Working knowledge of Maya, Blender, Photoshop, Premiere or Figma.

  • Working knowledge of node.js, GraphQL, websockets, AWS, etc.

  • Familiarity with middleware like FMOD and Speech Graphics.
